Hi Mike. I spent some time yesterday searching for the identity of this grasshopper with no success. It may be a young individual. From what I have read, many species of grasshopper change in appearance drastically as they mature. We will go with Gary's ID of Grasshopperus grasshopperus. I also feel that the beackground interferes with the subject. Maybe if you had been at eye level rather than looking down, this perspective would have solved that problem. The grasshopperus grasshopperus is nicely detailed and in good focus though.

I'm trying to find a Canon 180mm macro lens online but everywhere I look they are sold out. I'll just have to wait. I did purchase an extension tube though which increases magnification.
